Expect the best. Plan for the worst.

Expect the best. Plan for the worst… I lifted this heading shamelessly from Copernicus this week, but it fits my plans perfectly.

I have been selling out positions were possible and yet still keeping an eye open for good stocks that have dipped to allow short term profits

I  was able to sell UNG this week after a nice recovery and captured a modest profit. I was able to sell AAPL for a very nice gain. This was some purchased for a short term gain, I still have a long term position in place. It did not happen on Monday as planed but later in the week

What did I see in my weekend review?

The 10-yr Treasury yield is now up to 1.87

IBD (Investor Business Daily) continues:  Confirmed Up Trend

Copernicus Systems: Is still long, still mixed

Moneys Flows now has money flows all up and prices coincide

IBD 50 Top Five:
SWI, KORS, MLNX, ALXN, AAPL

Last Week:
SWI, KORS, MLNX, ALXN, AAPL

Copernicus Top Stocks are:
RAX, CSC, EBAY, GIB, AAPL

Last Week:
RAX, CSC, EBAY, GIB, AAPL

Currently my "Stocks for a Trade" now consists of:
All sold for now

IBD 50 Basket Holdings Are:
FRAN -6.72%, after the  really ugly dive last week, a nice recovery, but still more ground to cover. I plan on selling this retail stock on or before Dec 1.

ETF’s for a trade are:
(All gains or losses shown are the total since purchase)
QLD +5.87%continues to march upwards, still unsure of when to sell, now thinking  +15% may be a possibility.

What will I do?
My watch list for the week will be comprised of:
SWI, ALXN, RGR, EBAY, RAX, GILD, AMZN

As time allows I will be looking for a good entry point in any of these

I hope you have a great week.

Taking a few profits, getting a few downers

I have made some better buys, have taken some profits, but I also now have a couple of downers

What did I see in my weekend review?

IBD (Investor Business Daily) continues:  Confirmed Up Trend

Copernicus Systems: Is still long, still mixed

IBD 50 Basket Holdings Are:
FRAN -17.98%, a really ugly dive this week nailed me to this one. I may be stuck with this one for a while due the announced retirement of a key individual. But the company performance is good and I have hopes of a recovery.

ETF’s for a trade are:
(All gains or losses shown are the total since purchase)
QLD +3.59 a nice initial position this week, need to determine when to take the profit
UNG -4.49% a lingering poor buy, will hold for a while but will be looking to unload when possible

What will I do?
I did sell IBB, AMGN and KORS for modest profits last week

I have removed GLD from tracking as it is a long term holding. I will report it has now recovered for a modest profit

I do not track AAPL here, but will say that I now have a 15% profit for a purchase about 2 months ago that I hope to sell on Monday

My watch list for the week will be comprised of:
SWI, ALGN, ALXN, TCBI, QCOR, RAX, GIB, AMZN

As time allows I will be looking for a good entry point in any of these

I hope you have a great week.

A Change in Strategy

I just have not done that well in the market lately, so it was time to change. The choppiness has been going on for a long time, so one thing that was obvious was to take advantage of this to MAKE BETTER BUYS. So now I make my list of good profitable stocks that show up during my review and make sure they are ones I don’t mind holding if the stock or the market heads downward and simply buy them when I see they are down. This seems to be working on recent purchases. Another thing is to settle for lessor gains, no more 15% for a while. What’s wrong with 8%, 5% even 3%?

Wo what did I see in my weekend review?

The 10-yr Treasury yield has now changed downward to 1.56

IBD (Investor Business Daily) continues:  Confirmed Up Trend

Copernicus Systems: Is still long, still mixed

Moneys Flows continues is now down in 2/3 portfolios, now with prices in sync…this is not a good sign and deserves attention .

IBD 50 Top Five:
FRAN, SWI, KORS, MLNX, AAPL

Last Week: (Last week recorded, missed a week)
FRAN, SWI, KORS, MLNX, AAPL

Copernicus Top Stocks are:
CSC, RAX, EBAY, AAPL, VRSN

Last Week: (Last week recorded, missed a week)
AMGN, VRSN, EBAY, GILD, CSC

Currently my "Stocks for a Trade" now consists of:
(All gains or losses shown are the total since purchase)

AMGN .85% Hope to sell soon

 IBD 50 Basket Holdings Are:

FRAN 4.10% hope to sell soon
KORS 4.21% ditto

 ETF’s for a trade are:

GLD -.36% I will remove this one from tracking as it is a long term holding but will report on it from time-to-time
IBB -94% this one has been here too long, hope to sell soon
UNG -80% I thought Natural Gas might have turned…too soon

What will I do?

I did sell WMT and RGR at a little loss, but made up for it with a sale of MLNX. I did pick up some retail, both KORS and FRAN and hope to sell them soon.

I hope to sell down and will be extra cautious, perhaps until after the election or the next market drop...who knows when that will occur, but when it does I will be ready. I will be watching for a few good positions for small gains and then out

I hope you have a great week.
